Now before I go on, let me say that I do not think credit cards are evil. I do think they have their place, for many reasons.

That said, sometimes friends mention to me how "money sucks for them right now" or "money is tight". When I mention I'm in the same boat, they go "Well, you have credit cards to fall back on, I don't". I want to pull my hair out when I hear that.

Right now, if I want or need anything, I have to either a) charge it or b) ask my mom for some money. I hate doing either, but I have no choice, obviously. I "fell back" on my cards too much, which landed me into my current debt situation. Between my regular bills and the minimum payments on the cards, I have zero extra money. I can barely afford car insurance, and definitely have no money for gas. I get gas money from my mom. Not to mention the acne and dental treatments I've started doing.

I just wish people would empathize with me, as I do for them, instead of saying "Well you have...".

I have a plan to get out from under this, though. Taking things (this and in general) one step at a time.

Do people think credit cards are just free money or something?

Gah! You put into words what I couldn't--that's exactly that. It's like "hello, 'falling back' on those cards is EXACTLY why I'm broke right now!" x_x;

What kind of acne treatment are you doing? Something you go to a dermatologist for or is it something less expensive (like using something like ProActiv)?

I used to use ProActiv, but ever since I had my chickenpox about a year ago, it just hasn't worked the same. =[ I dunno what to do really. One of my friends went on Accutane recently... I was considering it until I found out how scary it was from her.

Please don't listen to just one person's experience on Accutane. It's a one-sided view if you do, and you wouldn't be getting a well-rounded look at it like you would by getting different experiences and perspectives about it from people. :\

I'm actually starting Accutane here in a couple weeks. I get so tired of hearing from strangers "Have you tried ProActiv?". Yeah, it makes my face rash, bitches. =P

My friend is happy to be on Accutane, but finding out all that is involved in taking it is what scared me away. Because Accutane can cause major birth defects, she had to be on birth control for several months before she could start on the Accutane. Not only does she need to remain on birth control while on Accutane, but she also needs to have regular blood work done to moniter her liver, since Accutane can apparently cause liver damage. Last month her blood work showed that she had a low white blood cell count, so they took her off the Accutane periodically. I recall her being very upset about it because the Accutane "doesn't cause a low white blood cell count," so she felt they didn't have a legitimate reason to take her off of it. Now she is back on it though with no immediate problems.

The whole thing just scares the hell out of me because anything that powerful... who knows what it could be doing to your body (or what the long-term affects could be on your body). I dunno... I'm paranoid.

At the same time though... I'm so sick of dealing with acne. =\

I'm on birth control anyway, so it's not anything extra I have to do for Accutane.

The constant blood work doesn't bother me. I guess it wouldn't, having gotten blood drawn every month during my pregnancy with Olivia.

I dunno, I know every risk of Accutane, but I'm willing to take these risks, probably because I feel assured by the blood work monitoring.

Acne sucks. Especially cystic-type.
