All Planned Parenthood's are NOT created equal. [Mar. 14th, 2005|04:57 pm]
I went to Planned Parenthood today, to get a Pap Smear (I try to have them done on the same month each year, but nooo, because I don't have the records they make me re-do it everytime I'm forced to use a new clinic) and chlamydia/gonorrhea testing before they'll give me an IUD.

I figured all PP's were the same, that they used the sliding-scale in determining what fees if any you pay. That's how it was at the PP in San Jose, anyway. (Found out about PP while out there, because the health departments weren't like how they are here in Florida.) Nope, this one didn't ask me ANYTHING about my income. I paid $92 just for a simple exam and testing. Perhaps it may be cheaper than my OB/GYN, but still, that's a lot of money.

My mom gave me $100 for easter, which I was going to use to buy the Yoshiki/Violet UK concert DVD and Yoshiki's new classical album. Not anymore. *sighs*

My boyfriend asked why I didn't ask about costs beforehand, and I replied "I thought all PP's used a sliding-scale". If I'd known that, I just would've gone to the county health department, where I know my costs would've been nil.

Oh yeah, I miss having my mom here. She left Sunday before noon, and even though neither of us really did anything, it was nice having her company. I really miss the help I did get from her, as it spared a little time for me to generally sleep without interruptions, among other things.

(BTW, we ate at a Japanese place in the mall today. The woman and man working there looked like demented soul-less beings, like from Onimusha. Ha.)

Man at least you guys have a PP. The closest PP to me is in Atlanta. There might be one in Jacksonville but somehow I doubt it. My parents' insurance covers my OB/GYN visits right now, but I'm dreading paying for my own health insurance. x.x

=P You're going to move to NY someday anyway. PP's up there must be great. ;)

I think on the PP website, they have a rating system for birth control/abortion access... NY gets an A+ and GA gets an F. X.X
