On the Discovery Channel's Health, uh, channel... there was a program about specifically breeding "genius" kids.

See, I think the idea of mere gender selection is OK. I don't have anything wrong with that.

However, some fear that alone will cause people to start dabbling in eugenics... breeding a "superior race" of humans, in such areas as: intelligence (namely), personality, looks, etc. And there are people who do just that, and the ones who do, don't even care about the child's gender, just everything else.

I believe this form of (extreme) eugenics takes away your ability to experience life for what it is. That choosing things such as looks, intelligence, and personality is bound to make everyone the same. Kind of like in "A Wrinkle in Time", where everything is "perfect", and everyone's like a programmed robot. It scares me. How does this "improve" life? You might as well be dead.

The reason I don't see anything wrong with gender selection, is because the people who choose this aren't looking to make the children all fundamentally the same.

Anyway, hahaha... right before I'd gotten suspended from work, i'd called Jason who's one of the night managers (or was) an asshole, right? Well, he ended up getting fired anyway, before I returned to work. ROFL. I guess Gilbert finally found out he was snorting coke after the lobby closed? =P

I finally got an appointment to see a dermatologist -- my mom will pay half of the expenses -- but it's not for a month. $100 (initial?) office visit fee, then $40-70 a tube for Retin-A (depending on which size they give me; I hope it's the bigger size, 'cause of the acne on my chest and back as well).

I'm using ProActiv at the moment, which is just mainly benzoyl peroxide, and it doesn't work as well as Retin-A (I'd gotten some leftovers from Chelsea once, and the short time I used it, even though it worsens initially, I loved the results I was seeing).

Huh. You're homely as well as pretty. Wow. Lucky you to be ugly and gorgeous all rolled into one, eh? Sounds like a keeper, that one does.

Gender selection can cause problems, too. In many cultures, female children are undesirable, so everyone, given the option, would choose to have a boy. But then what happens when those boys grow up and wish to start families, and there are no girls around?

A lot of people I hear about that choose gender selection, want both the boys and girls... the families that choose this are ones who have a series of boys, or a series of girls. People like this don't wish to do what China does, that's just bizarre.

Still, I'm having problems understanding why parents feel the need to control anything about their child, including gender. Having a baby is not like eating at a buffet. You can't pick and choose. ^^; You get what the genetics roulette wheel lands on. I would think parents should love their children even if they got 6 boys when they wanted 3 boys and 3 girls. But, why anybody would want 6 kids to begin with is also beyond my comprehension.

It's not that they'd actually want 6 kids, per se, but that they tried so many times to get a desired gender (for balance, perhaps), and ended up with more than they could handle (in their failed attempt[s]). =P
