Any math geniuses around? lol [Sep. 5th, 2007|09:35 am]
桜井香津美
Okay, bear with me, I am taking pre-algebra. :P

There's this word problem I have to do involving multiplying fractions and mixed numbers.

Mary jogged 4 1/4 miles per hour for 1 1/3 hours. During 1/3 of her jogging time, she was jogging in the rain. How many miles did she jog in the rain?

This is driving me batty, because it should be simple. The section this problem is in is multiplying fractions, not dividing them. :\ But the way it's phrased makes it sound like multiplication AND division is involved. ;_; I already looked up the answer, but I still keep trying to work out the problem to that answer, to no avail. I can't figure out how to write out and solve this damn equation.

Bah. *loser*

I wasn't being condescending. ^_^; I was just saying that's what the book said... I wanted to kill the book's authors, not you. :P

With only multiplication? I can see with division as well, but I'm not sure how you do it otherwise. Weird. o_O

Clearly this is a trick question.

Seriously. It wouldn't be such a big deal, if the multiplying fractions section didn't come before the dividing fractions section, LOL. XP

I never would have figured that out, ever. I would have just written down a random number. LOL

Stop being a genius, damnit. XD In all seriousness, I keep managing to get to 68/36, but that's where it kept getting hairy.

Jeezus, I'm stupid. LOL Well, not too much, just made a really stupid oversight on this particular problem. I divided 68 correctly, by 4, but mistakenly divided 36 by 2, instead of by 4 as well.

I loooove Cherie. :D :D :D
